San Diego Zoo
A bamboo forest with Giant Pandas, an African rainforest and the Arctic tundra create a spectacular landscape. The San Diego Zoo led the way in cageless, open-air environments where snow leopards and polar bears are among the 3,700 animals living in a natural setting.

Stroll through exhibits, travel the park in the easy-to-use buses, and ride the Skyfari to get an aerial view of the park and see surrounding Balboa Park.

Balboa Park
Surrounding the San Diego Zoo is a “landscape of arts and culture.” 17 different museums have exhibits on arts to automobiles and model railroads. The Old Globe Theater and San Diego Youth Symphony are among the performing arts available. 18 different gardens showcase a wide range of plant life. Sports in the park include golf, tennis, lawn bowling, swimming and a velodrome. An easy 10-minute drive from our facility.

A popular family theme park in Carlsbad. More than 60 rides and hands-on activities will spark your child’s imagination as they discover what they can do with Legos. You’ll love the Legoland Water Park with a water play area designed especially specially for toddlers. The park is located 31 miles north on I-5.


Visit San Diego’s leading museums and discover fine arts, exhibits revealing the history of Southern California and Baja California, and a close-up look at aviation technology.

The San Diego Museum of Art displays European old masters and19th and 20th century American art. Peek at dinosaurs and into primitive surroundings of centuries past at the San Diego Natural History Museum. Aviation history comes alive at the San Diego Air & Space Museum tracing the development of flight beginning with balloon flight in 1783 to restored fighter planes of recent decades.

The museums are located in Balboa Park and within 10 minutes driving of Kings Inn.


Mission Bay
Kayak and paddle board in the calm waters of the bay or windsurf where the Pacific rolls on to the sand. Mission Bay holds a unique claim as the world’s largest waterpark of its kind. You can even take a riverboat cruise. Traverse the park on bicycle or show off on a skateboard. There are several parks for family picnics. Easily accessible just west of Kings Inn northwest of the I-5 and I-8 junction.

Belmont Park
Get a historic beachfront amusement park experience. Started in 1925 with thrills today on the Big Dipper Coaster, Krazy Kars, Vertical Plunge, and simulated wave machines. Hop onto rides before heading to the beaches and coves around Mission Bay or stroll the boardwalk. There’s free admission and parking. The park is located within Mission Bay.

Coronado Beach
A village and beach are ready for browsing. Dig your toes into the smooth sand of what the Travel Channel has voted as one of America’s best beaches. You won’t have to fight crowds for a spot on the sand. Upscale homes and mansions enhance the backdrop and make for a romantic atmosphere or a family-fun day. Access Coronado just south of downtown San Diego and 13 miles from Kings Inn off I-5.

Little Italy
The landmark sign shows you’ve reach the neighborhood. Stop for a drink or stay for a meal. The surrounding streets are based on a passion for high quality dining and livability. The Little Italy Association is the only one of its kind in the United States handling local issues from restaurants and schools to parks. The drive from Kings Inn is 6 miles and takes about 10 minutes.

Gaslamp District
Explore a beautiful and historic Victorian district at the Gaslamp Quarter. Unique shops and boutiques are great for shopping. Catch the San Diego Padres in action at nearby Petco Park. Dine on seafood, contemporary California cuisine or get a dish with an ethnic flair. It’s less than 5 miles from our site via Route 163.
